Swamp Coolors
Swamp coolers are great for the Park City environment.
Evaporative Air Conditioning aka "Swamp Coolers"
Swamp coolers, also called evaporative coolers, are an effective and eco-friendly alternative to central or window
air conditioners. A swamp cooler uses water to cool the air through evaporation, a process that is more energy efficient than refrigeration (i.e., air conditioning). An evaporative air cooler also has the added benefit in this dry climate of adding a touch of moisture to the air.

Evaporative Coolers and How They Work
Evaporative coolers, or swamp coolers, work through an evaporative process to cool air with
less energy use than central or window air conditioners. They pull in the warm air from outside and run it through water by various methods (a wet filter, etc.), which causes evaporative cooling. Evaporation in and of itself is a cooling process (remember that lesson back in high school physics?), so it takes a good deal less energy to cool air this way than with refrigeration, like air conditioners use. It will also add moisture to the air, which we up in this dry zone can appreciate.
Selecting An Evaporative Air Cooler
There are different types of evaporative coolers available, and the amount of space you are trying to cool and the structure of your building itself will determine which is best for you. If you are looking to centrally cool your entire home, a rooftop unit may be the most effective choice, but if just a small space is needing to be cooled, a free-standing portable unit might do just fine. We can help you assess your needs and pick the right swamp cooler for your home or business.
The Strand HVAC Difference
As locals, we know which swamp coolers work best for different sizes and types of residential and commercial buildings. We will take the time to work with you to determine the best cooling system for you and be there every step of the way to ensure it works just as it should for years to come.
