Avalanche Juniors is designed as a fun, instruction-based environment for 5 to 12-year-olds at both the recreational and competitive levels. Our program combines learning in a fun and positive environment, and the excitement of game day through small-sided games.
Each well-thought-out session is designed to introduce young players to fundamental, age-appropriate soccer techniques through fun games, and then put these newly learned skills to use by playing small-sided games on appropriately sized fields. The program operates under the simple philosophy that kids learn by playing. Thus, everyone plays virtually 100% of the time, in both practice and games. There will be no lines and lots of touches on the ball.
Within the competitive structure of the club, every player attends two sessions per week for training and then a once-a-week game, plus scheduled age group sessions lead by our team of directors. All coaches are licensed and follow our club curriculum, as well as being part of our rigorous in-house coaching development program.
*Our recreation coaches are all volunteers. They have all passed background checks, and are encouraged to attend coach's training and to schedule practice sessions for their players weekly.
Utah Avalanche Juniors is the foundation from which to progress to the Utah Avalanche Club Program where our 11 v 11 ECNL and Utah Youth Soccer State League teams are formed.
Our Avalanche Juniors player placements and team formation takes place in May during tryouts, with training starting in June and progressing through the spring of the following year, with various breaks planned over the year.
We are dedicated to providing a fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate community-based soccer program. It is our goal to deliver a program where players have the opportunity to improve technically, while having fun, building a love for the game, and progressing within our player pathway.
