Radiant Heating
Strand is the industry leader in radiant heat installation in Park City, UT.
Radiant Floor Heating
Radiant heat, or radiant floor heating, works by circulating heat underneath the floorboards which then radiates up to heat the entire room. It is quieter and more
efficient than air heating and preferable by many because there are no allergens or annoying forced air blowing around. The most popular type of radiant heat, hydronic heating, works with a boiler and pipes to circulate hot water below the floorboards, and still uses a thermostat to control the temperature just as with air heating.

Types Of Radiant Heating
There are three types of radiant heating systems. Hydronic radiant floors use hot water and are the most efficient with the biggest savings; radiant air floors use heated air and are less efficient; and electric radiant floors, which offer the least amount of efficiency of the three. Additionally, there are two types of installation processes: wet installation and dry installation. We will
inspect your home’s construction thoroughly to determine the best way to install your underfloor heating.
If radiant floors aren’t the best option for your building, radiant heat panels are available. These panels are typically electric, though you can find hydronic panels as well if you are willing to risk potential water damage to your walls or ceiling. Radiant panels work well for rooms that are infrequently used, as they heat up more quickly and aren’t so costly when used sparingly.
Is Radiant Heat Right For You?
The type of flooring you prefer is a big determinate to whether or not radiant heat is right for you. It works best with ceramic tile or laminated wood, though a very low-pile carpet could still radiate the heat if it is set correctly. If you like to sink your toes in a deep-pile shag, however, radiant floor heating will not work well, though you might still consider installing radiant panels.
